If you had us in your home right now, what’s the first plumbing task you’d want us to tackle? That’s hard to answer, right? First of all, your brain is quickly trying to catalog everything in your home that involves plumbing. And even if you get an A+ on list development, are you really sure which items need some work, and those that couldn't be working better? Probably not. And now you know why we recommend and perform annual plumbing performance and safety inspections.
Pipe is available in rigid "joints", which come in various lengths depending on the material. Tubing, in particular copper, comes in rigid hard tempered "joints" or soft tempered (annealed) rolls. PeX and CPVC tubing also comes in rigid "joints" or flexible rolls. The temper of the copper, that is whether it is a rigid "joint" or flexible roll, does not affect the sizing.

Water pressure should be checked at least once a year or whenever you have a plumber in your home. When we visit a doctor, no matter the reason, they will always check a patient’s blood pressure. Water pressure should be treated similarly. A pressure-reducing device in proper working order is incredibly important to maintaining a healthy water delivery system in your home. Water pressure should never exceed 80 psi. Anything reading above 80 psi. is an indication of a failing water pressure-reducing device and should be addressed as soon as possible. If you're unsure about your water pressure, we can visit your home and use a gauge to measure your incoming water pressure for you. Then we can discuss any options that might be available to give you peace of mind and ensure a healthy water system.

A water heater is a costly investment, and very few homeowners know how to care for them. With proper maintenance, you can extend the life of the equipment, lower utility costs and minimize the risk damages caused by a leaking water tank. A water heater flush is a fairly simple procedure that removes the buildup of sediment in the tank. To avoid problems and increase the life of the water heater, a flush is recommended every six months. There should always be clear access to the water heater, and keep pertinent information easily accessible. For instance, is your heater gas, electric or propane? Keeping the serial and model numbers readily available will also help address any warranty questions easily. Take care of your water heater and enjoy nice, warm showers for a long time!

Ernie's is great and got Chuck out within 2 hours! He got the gas control valve covered under the manufacturer warranty by calling them and dealing with the red tape to get them to replace it for free (a $225 value for the part cost). I only had to pay $250 for the labor of the part replacement installation. Chuck went to three locations to find the part I needed and got the manufacturer to cover it without me needing to pay for it and then chase them for reimbursement later. After getting the part he had it installed within 30 mins and the hot water tank was running like new. Ask for Chuck, he does great work and will try to get your part covered under warranty if possible!
PBT – flexible (usually gray or black) plastic pipe which is attached to barbed fittings and secured in place with a copper crimp ring. The primary manufacturer of PBT tubing and fittings was driven into bankruptcy by a class-action lawsuit over failures of this system. However, PB and PBT tubing has since returned to the market and codes, typically first for "exposed locations" such as risers.
Then again, if you don’t have the time, tools, or inclination to do your own plumbing repairs, you can hire a pro. A plumber can handle nearly any problem that involves pipes, from replacing a garbage disposal to unclogging a bathtub drain, but, if your problem is a stopped-up drain, you’re usually better off calling a drain-clearing service because these are generally less expensive.
